FROM RUSSIA TO AMERICA IN 90 MINUTES- Musical journey cello & piano
Musical journey with cello & piano:
Stephanie Huang & Monika Darzinkeviciute
S. Rachmaninov, S. Prokofjev, A. Remesa,
R. Schumann, S. Barber, G. Gershwin
Two young musicians – Belgian cellist Stephanie Huang and Lithuanian pianist Monika Darzinkeviciute invite you to a musical journey
through the masterpieces of cello – piano repertoire.
The storyline starts in the XXth century Russia with the “Vocalise” – song without words - by S. Rachmaninov. It is followed by S. Prokofjev sonata- the work where the composer had to subtly inhabit his ideas and the reflections of the Soviet Russia realities in the expression and musical language approved by the Committee. From Soviet Russia we move to Lithuania and Germany. “Stigmata” - spiritual piano solo piece by A. Remesa and the splendid, fresh
and passionate “Adagio and Allegro” by R. Schumann.
What is the first thought on American music? Jazz! But before that- emotionally charged and intense S.Barber Sonata. Jazzy, vital and colorful G. Gershwin Preludes and Songs will end the musical journey.
