The Paul Van Ostaijen String Quartet was born three years ago out of a combination of musicians
from ‘De Filharmonie’ and the ‘Vlaamse Opera’.
Antwerp is the city that links these musicians together, coming from four different nationalities. The Flemish author Paul Van Ostaijen has been an important figure for them from the beginning, especially because of the strong rhythmic in his poems.
Next to the Fugues by Johann Sebastian Bach and the sound of ‘Birds’ by Joseph Haydn, they also present two less known pearls in the repertoire for string quartet music, the 5th String Quartet by Philip Glass and the ‘Metamorphoses Nocturnes’ by Georgy Ligeti.

Nara Hiraide & Christophe Pochet (violins), Krzystof Kubala (viola), Hans-Ludwig Becker (cello).
