ROHAN DASGUPTA & SANDIP BANERJEE- SITAR & TABLA
Born with music in his veins, Rohan is a talented sitarist and an emerging phenomenon in Indian Classical Music. Credited for his dynamic stage presence and a humble personality, Rohan has been performing since a tender age, spreading the spirit of Indian Classical Music to several admirers across the world.
Rohan considers himself very fortunate to start the emphatic journey towards Indian Classical Music from one of the stalwarts of sitar playing Pandit Harashankar Bhattacharya (disciple of Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan), from a very tender age. Under his wings, Panditji ( Rohan's uncle in relation) initiated little Rohan to the magical world of classical music and Jafferkhani Baaj and as he unfolded, step by step, with parental care and affection, the deep nuances of the musical worship, little Rohan matured as an artiste and developed an individual meditative style of Sitar playing.
The legend, Padmabhushan Ustad Abdul halim Jaffer Khan, himself has been a constant source of inspiration throughout and Rohan is blessed with numerous life defining sessions from his legendary grand guru himself.
Presently Rohan is also visiting and learning from the Illustrious stalwart of Shahjanpur Gharana , Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta.
Sandip Banerjee is a professional tabla player who followed 20 years of advanced training under his guru Pandit Sanjoy Mukherjee. Thanks to his solid and soulful style of playing, his graceful accompaniment and his powerful solos he is well known in India and abroad and appears regularly on TV and radio with top recording artists.
